Q: Can you tell us about your experience working at your current and previous companies?

A: My current company is a premier engineering firm focused toward transportation projects. We work with DOTs all over the United States. Previously, I have worked on earth and concrete dams, soft ground tunnels, water & wastewater lines, and levees. I have been very fortunate to have worked on many diverse projects both in terms geologies and structures. But my most rewarding experiences have been the ones where I got to visit remote areas in the US and interact with multiple people.

Q: As an Geotechnical Engineer, do you seek freelance projects aside from your main job? Have you ever been involved in any?

A: Yes, if the time allows. I have been involved with very few small jobs in the past.

Q: What skills have you developed that helped you get to where you are now?

A: Technical excellence is generally a minimum requirement. Collaboration and communication are the key to a job well done. Most of the customers appreciate timely communication and the ability to work with others as most of the projects involve multiple contractors and consultants.

Q: How did the MBA degree add value to your professional profile?

A: It provided me with different and broader perspectives. For example, now I better appreciate the importance of the company culture in enhancing productivity.

Q: What are your aspirations and next steps for your career? Where does this path lead?

A: I would certainly like to keep working on significant projects as I grow in my professional career. Eventually, I would like to own a profitable company with an outstanding employee culture.
